We all wait patiently for our children to grow . . . but is 8 years old really what we would call a man? According to my son, Dalton, who was baptised this past weekend he is indeed a man now. He very firmly told me that he has made special promises with Heavenly Father and now is a man. The title was a direct quote from him.
Man or not, My little guy did take a big step this weekend. He was so darn cute with his cousins, Audrey and Quintan. The smiles on all their faces was just too precious. My sister Linda put together a touching Power Point of the cousins growing up together and had the church looking grand for their special occasion. It really was touching to see so many family there for their support.
As a mom with her first child committing that he will try to follow the Lord's example, it was surreal. I couldn't help but me simi-emotional as I saw his Grandpa Joe lower him into the water and to watch Grandpa lay his hands on his head and once again give Dalton a blessing that he will choose the right, go forward , be a good example to his sisters, and to strive to do his best. All of sudden, as if he were just born, the feelings of , "Oh my gosh, it is my responsibility to teach and make sure those blessings can come true" flooded over me.
I was a bit overwhelmed again in knowing that Dalton depended on me so much, but then I remembered to have faith in the blessing that was bestowed upon his head. I was not alone in rearing this child. I have many family members, friends, the church, faith, and most of all his Heavenly Father helping. This helped my breathing to calm down and relax. Thank goodness!
Overall, it was a special and wonderful trip to Fallon where I was able to kiss on my little nieces and squeeze my Texas nephews! I can't forget that I had my little revelation that I am not alone in helping my growing, manly, son in navigating through this earthly life! YEAH!!

Congratulations to Dalton! I love the picture of the three of them with the reflection. Great idea! What a cute little man you have RayLynn!

That is so awesome RayLynn. It is so neat when our kids grow up and do things we can remember doing when we were little. Congrats to Dalton!
